Collaborative works with Kate Walker
The Intersexions series, created in collaboration with Kate Walker explore ideas relating to boundary crossing and the construction of gender. Personal and political borderlines are constantly being crossed in the rapidly shifting territory of gender identity. These incursions are echoed throughout the collaborative process and through the interplay of form, color and image. Inlay narrative line drawings depict couples involved in ambiguous contact activities. Biomorphic ceramic forms derive from and coerce these familiar, yet de-contextualized images and riff on the language of xy chromosomes in a manner that is reminiscent of an equation. Bright color and flocking accentuate humor and add a festive absurdity.
